HEAD COACH RANKINGS
Midwest NFL head coaches: Dan Campbell (Det), Ben Johnson (Chi), Matt LaFleur (GB), Kevin O'Connell (Min), Andy Reid (KC), Kevin Stefanski (Cle), Shane Steichen (Ind), and Zac Taylor (Cin).
8th place is Ben Johnson. Not because I think he's a bad coach (I actually think he's going to be a good head coach), he's just the only first year head coach so he's defaulted to last place out of these head coaches.
7th place is Shane Steichen. He has been head coach of the Colts for two seasons. He hasn't made the playoffs in either of them. His regular season record is 17-17. His success as a head coach all depends on Anthony Richardson's progression. If Richardson doesn't improve and the Colts don't make the playoffs, Steichen could be looking for work come 2026.
6th place is Kevin Stefanski. He has been the Browns head coach since 2020. His regular season record is 40-44 and he is 1-2 in the playoffs. These are actually pretty good numbers when you consider the Deshaun Watson disaster. Stefanski has also had 11 starting QBs as head coach (Mayfield, Keenum, Mullens, Brissett, Watson, Flacco, Thompson-Robinson, Walker, Driskel, Winston, & Zappe).
5th place is Kevin O'Connell. He has been the Vikings head coach since 2022. His regular season record is 34-17, but he is 0-2 in the playoffs. He has shown how good of a play caller he can be and he has won with multiple different QBs including resurrecting Sam Darnold's career in 2024.
4th place is Dan Campbell. He has been the Lions head coach since 2021. His regular season record in Detroit is 39-28-1. Campbell was also the interim head coach of the Dolphins back in 2015 going 5-7. Total regular season record is 44-35-1 and he is 2-2 in the playoffs. He has an NFC Championship appearance and has shown he's not afraid to be aggressive.
3rd place is Zac Taylor. He has been the Bengals head coach since 2019. His regular season record is 46-52-1. He has only made the playoffs twice in six years, but his playoffs record is 5-2 having reached the superbowl in 2021 and the AFC championship game in 2022.
2nd place is Matt LaFleur. He has been the Packers head coach since 2019. His regular season record is 67-33. He has made the playoffs in 5 of his 6 seasons in Green Bay. His playoff record is 3-5 though. He inherited Aaron Rodgers as his starting QB, but 2 of Rodgers' 4 MVP seasons were with LaFleur as his head coach. LaFleur has also helped develop QB Jordan Love.
1st place is Andy Reid. I don't think many people would disagree with him being the best head coach out of the midwest teams (as he is one of the best head coaches ever in the history of the NFL). He has been the head coach of the Chiefs since 2013 and before that he was the head coach of the Eagles from 1999-2012. His regular season record in Kansas City is 143-53 with a playoff record of 18-8. With Philadelphia his regular season record was 130-93-1 and a playoff record of 10-9. Total regular season record is 273-146-1. He is the only head coach to ever win more than a 100 games with 2 different franchises and appear in 4 consecutive conference championships with 2 different franchises. He has coached in 6 superbowls, winning 3 of them. He is 4th on the all time list of wins as a head coach with 301 only behind George Halas (324), Bill Belichick (333), and Don Shula (347).
